WELCOME TO THE BLUEPRINT
Every artist has heard the same advice: be consistent, post more, build your brand, do more gigs and on and on and on
Useful? Sometimes, but it's rarely specific.
THE BLUEPRINT looks at how the music industry works, how artists make decisions, how releases are planned, how audiences are built, how money moves, and how independent creatives can stop guessing their way through the process.
This series is for artists who want to understand the system without losing themselves inside it.
Because independence should not mean isolation. It should not mean having to figure out contracts, royalties, branding, release strategy, marketing, live shows, content, and community-building through scattered TikToks and half-useful advice threads at 2 a.m. There is power in being self-directed, but only if you know what you’re directing.
Each article will break down one part of the bigger picture: the business, strategy, mindset, and mechanics behind being an independent artist. Some pieces will focus on industry knowledge and how the machine runs. Others will unpack creative strategy, audience development, rollout planning, or the decisions artists face when trying to turn momentum into something long-term.
The goal is not to make the industry look simple. It isn’t simple. Anyone pretending otherwise is probably selling you a course with too many emojis in the caption.
The goal is to make it clearer.
THE BLUEPRINT is here to give artists context before they make decisions, language before they enter rooms, and strategy before they spend money, time, or energy they may not have.
Behind this door, expect clarity, honesty, and practical insight for artists who are building from the ground up.
Welcome to THE BLUEPRINT.
